The Edinburgh Gardener Counselling Service
My name is Chris, my pronouns are they/them.
Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, curious about yourself, or simply in need of a safe space to explore your thoughts and emotions, our sessions are centred entirely around you.
I’m a person-centred counsellor with a practice overlooking the Shore in Leith where I offer both face-to-face and online sessions to clients across the UK.
I have worked for the voluntary sector and the NHS for 30 years and am deeply passionate about offering affirming, accessible care for anyone who has felt marginalised, misunderstood, or silenced.
At the heart of my practice is the belief that healing begins when we are truly heard.
I work from a trauma-informed, neurodivergent-affirming lens—meaning I welcome and celebrate difference.
I recognise that traditional systems don’t always meet people where they are, and I’ve built my practice around flexibility, safety, and trust.
Whether you’re seeking recovering from trauma, or simply yearning for a more authentic life, I will walk alongside you.

My approach
Cultivating healing.
One conversation at a time
Healing unfolds through authentic dialogue, where each moment of connection nurtures growth and self-discovery.
Growth begins within.
My approach is anchored in trust in our innate capacity for change, honouring inner wisdom as the source of personal transformation.
Rooted in empathy, growing in strength.
Grounded in deep empathy and unconditional positive regard, I offer a relationship where clients feel safe to explore, reflect, and build resilience.
A safe space to grow, heal, and flourish.
Person-centred therapy creates a non-judgmental sanctuary where clients are free to be themselves, fostering healing through acceptance and presence.
Therapy that nurtures your inner landscape.
Gently we will tending to your emotional world, cultivating insight and self-compassion through genuine relational depth.
In the quiet soil of listening, we all begin to bloom.
Attentive, empathic listening, creates the fertile ground required for growth into our fullest, most authentic selves.

Clients describe our work as “a lifeline” or “the one space I feel like myself.” Others have told me it’s the first time they’ve felt safe enough to say things aloud. For some, it’s about rediscovering joy or learning how to rest. For others, it’s about grieving who they’ve had to be, or dreaming of who they might become.
